The h.e.a.r.t. Institute is a place where Christians from all over the world come to be educated, equipped and empowered with practical skills in cultural adaptation, problem solving and community development for the purpose of meeting the needs of the hungry and oppressed while sharing the good news of God’s Love! We accomplish this primarily through our 3 week and 15 week academic programs. But you probably already knew that, didn’t you. What you may not have been aware of is that the unique h.e.a.r.t. experience is offered in another form. I have three words for you: Mission Awareness Venture. Otherwise referred to as a MAV in the h.e.a.r.t. village.
What is a MAV you may ask? h.e.a.r.t.’s Executive Director, Phil Murphy, describes the MAV experience this way:
“Open to anyone from 6th grade to adult, h.e.a.r.t. Institute’s MAV Program is specifically designed to simulate the many aspects of living and serving in a developing area. During your time in the village, one should be ready to encounter some demanding circumstances, but our desire is to facilitate growth as each challenge is met. We pray that as you learn alongside our passionate staff, you will be more prepared to answer God’s call to serve those less fortunate than yourself.”
Over the past five years, h.e.a.r.t. has hosted more than 50 MAV groups totaling some 800 participants. We encourage you to consider training with us just as so many people from all over the United States already have. If you and at least 10 other people are looking for an incomparable experience in our simulated developing area village, give us a call at 863-638-1188 or fill out the MAV Group Response Sheet. Whether you are looking for a one day or 3 week long adventure (or anything in between), the h.e.a.r.t. Institute wants to provide the perfect, eye-opening training program designed specifically for you!
